- Diagnostic Precision: Applying an external module allows you to confirm whether the absence of standby power is the root cause or if there are deeper issues, such as a faulty SIO chip or missing enable signals.
- Risk Considerations: While effective for testing, direct external voltage injection should be done with caution. Incorrect voltage levels or improper current control might damage surrounding components.
- Temporary vs. Permanent Solution: If the external module successfully powers the board, the next step is identifying whether the issue stems from a defective power rail component—such as a bad MOSFET, faulty buck converter, or damaged supply capacitor.
- Practical Use Cases: This technique is especially useful in validating power sequencing stages. For instance, when troubleshooting SIO power, injecting regulated voltage can help assess whether the chip responds correctly.
